Angela Rogensues

Founder & Principal Consultant

Strategic Leader. Systems Builder. Relentless Advocate.

Angela Rogensues is the founder and principal of Common Road Advisors, where she brings a bold, results-driven approach to nonprofit strategy and civic leadership. Known for her ability to envision large-scale solutions and execute them with precision, Angela has led transformative efforts across the public, nonprofit, and political sectors.

As Program Director and later Executive Director for Playworks Michigan, she built one of the most successful regional programs in the national organization’s history. Under her leadership, the organization secured over $6.6 million in major funding, including the largest single grant in Playworks’ history, and grew its school partnerships by 262% in just four years -a testament to her long-range planning and operational effectiveness.

Angela’s cross-sector experience includes strategic roles in mental health, education, substance abuse, workforce development, human trafficking prevention, and affordable housing. Her work consistently reflects a focus on impactful systems change, not surface-level solutions.

In her second term as Council President on the Warren City Council, Angela has championed bold reforms: sponsoring legislation to create the city’s Veterans Affairs Commission, passing a responsible contracting ordinance, and voting to eliminate lifetime health insurance for politicians, which she called “political corruption at its worst.” She also served as a trustee of the General Employee Retirements System, overseeing nearly $200 million in pension and health trust funds -an example of her financial acumen and commitment to accountability.

Angela’s leadership extends to the labor movement and the arts. She co-chairs the Michigan AFL-CIO Labor Caucus, serves on multiple boards, and is a former President of the Detroit Institute of Arts Founder's Junior Council. She is also an active DNC member, working to shape policy at the national level.

Her track record of performance and principled leadership has earned her recognition from Crain’s Detroit Business (40 Under 40 and Notable Women in Education Leadership), Corp! Magazine, the AFL-CIO, and several civic organizations.

Angela holds a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts from DePaul University. A graduate of Leadership Macomb and the Mackinac Policy Conference Future Leaders Program, she continues to lead with a clear vision, disciplined execution, and a relentless drive to deliver results for the communities she serves.

Angela lives in Warren, Michigan with her partner Dustin, two dogs, and two cats and is a proud aunt to two nephews and a niece.
